A report came out yesterday that the Kansas City Royals and Bobby Witt Jr. have had "some talks here and there" about a contract extension. Bobby Witt Jr. has already said that he wants to stay in Kansas City long term and build a great team to win a World Series, and that extension could be coming soon.
Bobby Witt Jr. had a 2023 season to remember. In Witt's second year in the MLB, he started in 150 games. Bobby Witt Jr. slashed .276/.319/.495, with 30 HR's, 96 RBI's, 49 SB, and an .814 OPS. In 2023, Bobby Witt Jr. became the first Royals player ever to have a 30/30 season.
If the Royals and Bobby Witt Jr. can come to an agreement on an extension, he will by far be the future for the Royals. Witt, just 23-years-old is just going to get better. He's already shown the star he can be. It will be interesting to see if the Royals can lock up their star player in Bobby Witt Jr.
