Everyone has now heard the news that the Angels are moving in the direction of being buyers with the news that they are not dealing Shohei Ohtani at the deadline. Ironic enough, Shohei Ohtani may have just had the single best day a ball player could have.
Yesterday, the Angels were in Detroit to take on the Tigers for a doubleheader. In game one, Shohei Ohtani pitched 9.0 innings of one hit ball. Immediately after pitching a complete game shutout, Ohtani was slotted into the two hole and went 2/3 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI.
The historic performance put on by Shohei Ohtani was just another day in the office for him. The risk the Angels took on their longtime superstar will most certainly give them the edge of making the postseason. However, is it enough to actually find themselves in October?
