The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks in game two yesterday in a lopsided score of 10-0. With that win, the Phillies took both the first two games in Philadelphia and they went up 2-0 in the NLCS.
The Phillies pitching has been on fire this entire postseason, that's been no secret. It continued with Aaron Nola's game two performance. Nola went 6 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, and 7 SO. For the Diamondbacks, they had a much different result for their SP. Merrill Kelly pitched 5.2 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 6 SO, and 3 HR's allowed.
For the offensive side of the game, it was certainly a one-sided affair. The Phillies bats have been red hot, and it continued yesterday. Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner both hit HR's. Also, Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, Alec Bohm, J.T. Realmuto, Nick Castellanos, and Brandon Marsh all contributed RBI's in the game. For the Diamondbacks, the bats went silent as they scored 0 runs.
The Phillies and the Diamondbacks will now travel to Arizona for games 3, 4, and *5 (*If necessary). Game three will be tomorrow with the first pitch being at 5:07 ET. Ranger Suárez will be on the mound as the Phillies look to go up 3-0, and the Diamondbacks will have Brandon Pfaadt on the mound as they look to win their first game in the 2023 NLCS.
