The Reunion Baseball Wanted and Needed is Paying Off

In late January, former MVP Andrew McCutchen and the Pittsburgh Pirates agreed to a one-year deal to bring him back to the Steel City. Many wondered if this heartfelt reunion would pay off and well, it's been just that.

The 36-year old is back in Pittsburgh and is making some real noise. It's no secret that McCutchen can still produce as he inches closer to retirement. Nobody really expected to see what he's doing this season.

In 69 games this season, McCutchen is slashing .280/.395/.435 with 9 homeruns, 25 RBI, and a .830 OPS. Not only providing at a high level on the field for the Bucco's, but he provides that veteran leadership for a young up and coming squad.

As baseball officially hits the halfway mark on the 2023 season, McCutchen's best days are obviously behind him. However, the contribution he is making on the team that he started it all with makes these last few months make all fans feel what baseball is truly about.
