BRONX, NY: The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Guardians in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series to advance to the World Series. The Yankees beat their familiar foe on the heroics of Juan Soto by a score of 5-2.

For the Yankees and their faithful fans, it’s been far too long since the franchise reached their 41st World Series appearance. Their last coming in 2009 when they beat the Philadelphia Phillies in six games.

Juan Soto was acquired by the Yankees back in early December. They wanted another superstar to pair with captain Aaron Judge. Although the duo has been nothing short of phenomenal, the Yankees wanted Soto for the big moments. Well, last night was a perfect reason why he was brought to the Bronx.

Soto’s heroics were nothing short of incredible for the Bombers, but the American League Championship Series was put on the back of veteran slugger, Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton came to New York for the same reason Soto did. However, his Yankee career has seen its fair share of ups and downs. However, the most of his ups come once October hits. The 2024 season is no different. He showed that by bringing home the ALCS MVP Award.

For Yankees fans, 15 years feels like an eternity to reach the Fall Classic. After all they are used to the winning ways of the late great George Steinbrenner. After those long and dreadful years, fans can now feel excited again. That is for a couple of days until they reach their next opponent, which will be either the Dodgers or the Mets.
