The 2023 MLB season has had its fair share of ups and downs. There has been teams that have exceeded expectations and have not met expectations. The 2023 All-Star game is officially in the rear view mirror, but these teams are looking to make a run for October baseball.
1. Baltimore Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles 2023 season has been extremely successful and exciting. It has been quite the story for the O’s as their rebuild seemed to have begun sooner than many have expected. With this young core of stud players, there is no telling what this team could accomplish. For the O’s, veteran starting pitching should be at the top of their list as the trade deadline approaches.
2. New York Mets
Ah yes, the highest payroll in baseball is having quite the rollercoaster year. Currently sitting in fourth place of the NL East, thus far into 2023, the Mets have not expected this result in the slightest. However, things have been turning around for the Mets. As they find themselves 6-4 in their last 10 games, the Mets have had a positive July thus far. As the trade deadline approaches, the Mets should look to bolster their lineup. At the moment, the Mets have a very potent lineup on paper and with their big names finally turning around, the Mets could finally have the 2023 season they thought they would.
3. Miami Marlins
The Marlins have had a very successful 2023 season thus far. They have blown every preseason prediction out of the water. Acquiring all-star second baseman, Luis Arraez, the entire franchise seemingly followed his lead. It’s been a nice turnaround for a group that many did not expect to be at this position. With the trade deadline looming, adding another big bat to pair with Arraez and Soler, could be a big addition to this young core. Their young but strong pitching staff has been another excellent piece of this Marlins team. Having this club back in October with such a fun young core could be one of the best stories in 2023.
