The Detroit Tigers announced that they have extended infield prospect, Colt Keith, to a six-year contract worth $28.6 million. The deal could max out at $82MM over nine years if all three options are escalated and exercised (2030, 2031, and 2032).

Keith will receive a $2 million signing bonus in addition to a salary of $2.5 million for the 2024 season, $3.5 million in 2025, $4 million per season in 2026 and '27, and $5 million per season in 2028 and '29.

The current breakdown of the values is as follows: the 2030 club option is valued at $10MM with a $2.6425MM buyout, the 2031 option is for $13MM ($1MM buyout), and the 2032 option is at $15MM ($2MM buyout). All of the club options come with wage escalators.

Keith comes in as MLB Pipeline's No. 22 prospect and the Tigers No. 2 prospect. Keith is a infield prospect who primarily plays third base and second base. The 22-year old slashed an outstanding .306/.380/.552 between AA Erie and AAA Toledo in 2023.

Keith was the Tigers fifth-round pick of the 2020 MLB Draft. The Tigers are without a doubt a young and coming club. With the likes of Riley Green, Spencer Torkelson, and Tarik Skubal already making noise in the bigs, they have a slew of minor leaguers coming in the wings. Along with Colt Keith, the Tigers have Max Clark, Jackson Jobe, and Jace Jung. This Detroit club looks ready to take the next step.
