Trea Turner is Officially a Phillie

The news broke on Monday the 5th of December that top free agent shortstop, Trea Turner was heading to the Philadelphia Phillies on a massive 11-year deal worth $300 million. Adding the league's best power-speed player to the NL champion Phillies was a huge addition. The Phillies, who we're heartbroken less than a month ago, are now the most ecstatic team in baseball.

Trea Turner, who averaged .298, 21 home runs, and swiping 27 bags in 2022, will slide in perfectly in this already potent Phillies lineup. Paired up with Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, J.T. Realmuto, and Rhys Hoskins, the Phillies are primed to make an even deeper run than they did in 2022. With the shift being banned as well as extending the size of the bases in 2023, Turner is projected to have an even better 2023 campaign than he did in 2022.

We all know the Phillies came up short in 2022. Philadelphia seemed to be missing a few pieces to compete with the league best Astros. The Phillies making this blockbuster signing, is a huge step closer to reaching their goal in bringing Philadelphia their first World Series Championship since 2008. GM Dave Dombrowski has always been known for spending big, keep an eye out for this Phillies team to get even stronger. Pitching will most likely be addressed with free agents Jameson Taillon, Jose Quintana, etc. still on the board.
