The Minnesota Twins announced yesterday that outfielder Byron Buxton was placed on the 10-day injured list due to right knee inflammation. Infielder/outfielder Austin Martin was recalled by the Twins to take the roster spot of Byron Buxton, according to Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
This is very unfortunate news for the Twins and especially Byron Buxton. It just seems like he can’t catch a break when it comes to injuries, that’s obviously not Buxton’s fault. It’s just tough luck. When Byron Buxton is on the field, he’s an elite player on both offense and defense.
Minnesota Twins President of Baseball Operations Derek Falvey on the injury news of Byron Buxton:
We caught it at a time where we can get him some treatment and hopefully get him back on the field soon.
Byron Buxton has always been a great ball player when he’s healthy. Many injuries have gotten in the way of Buxton. Through 28 games this year, Buxton is slashing .250/.300/.391, with 1 home run, 11 RBI’s, and a .691 OPS. It has been a solid season for Buxton, but injuries have been in his way.
Thankfully for the Twins, they are winners of 11 straight games. The hope is now that they can continue their hot streak while Byron Buxton is out do to injury. Hopefully Byron Buxon’s injury isn’t anything serious and he can be back out on the field doing what he does best.
