The AL Wildcard round is over rather quickly. In the last two days, the Texas Rangers and Minnesota Twins made their marks by sweeping their respective matchups in two games. Here's how they did it and what they will look forward to.
The Texas Rangers went into Tampa Bay with a purpose. Lead by their explosive offense and great pitching, the Texas Rangers looked like they did mid-season. Jordan Montgomery and Nathan Eovaldi were the leaders for the first two games. The Rangers overmatched the Rays from the very first pitch. The Rangers will now travel to Baltimore to face the youth movement Orioles.
The Minnesota Twins may have won the AL Central, but there were questions surrounding this team. They may have just put all those questions to rest after sweeping the Toronto Blue Jays. The Twins were lead by their pitching. Two games of Pablo Lopez and Sonny Gray pushed them through. The offensive side of the ball for Minnesota was enough to hit the stacked Blue Jays staff. The Twins will now travel to Houston to take on the defending World Series champions, the Houston Astros.
