Yesterday, the New York Yankees announced that they have released veteran INF Josh Donaldson. Other MLB teams now have until this upcoming Friday to pick up Donaldson to make him eligible for their postseason roster.
This move was inevitable at this point. Donaldson was traded to the Yankees and was a disappointing from the jump. In 165 games with the Yankees, Donaldson slashed .207/.293/.385 with just 25 home runs and 77 RBI.
The trade was a bust for the Yankees as they had to take on Donaldson's hefty price tag over the last two seasons and his production did not come close to what the Yankees were hoping. Whether this means Donaldson's career is coming to an end or he'll be picked up elsewhere, his time in New York sure is forgettable.
