Yankees ace, Gerrit Cole, has had a phenomenal career and has been one of the best pitchers of this generation. However, there is one accomplishment that Gerrit Cole has never added to his resume. A Cy Young Award. 2023 might just be the year for the ace.
Gerrit Cole finished last night's 5-3 win with a line of 8.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, and 9 Ks. Cole's season ERA is now down to a AL best 2.75. Per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, The Yankees have won 21 of Gerrit Cole's 31 starts this season. They're 11 games under.500 (55-66) in all other games.
The Yankees 2023 season is nothing but a failure. The season just has not gone the way the Bronx Bombers had hoped. However, Gerrit Cole is once again proving that he deserves the contract he signed and is the one positive about this Yankee club. Cole will likely get the mound one last time this season in his Cy Young push.
