Yankees Ace Reaches Another Milestone

Yankees' Gerrit Cole took the mound in last night's Yankees win against the Orioles. His final line was not up to his usual standers, but he reached another milestone in his route to Cooperstown.

Cole reached 2,000 strikeouts in his career, on a Jorge Mateo strikeout, in which ended the inning. Cole walked off the mound to a standing ovation from the crowd. He became just the 87th pitcher to complete this feat, adding on, being the third fastest to reach it.

Ever since Gerrit Cole first put on the pinstripes, he's produced. Just last season he broke Ron Guidry's franchise record for most strikeouts in a single season. With Gerrit Cole still under contract for another 5 seasons, he's likely to break multiple records within the club, as well as add to his resume.
