The Yankees have been a laughing stock in 2023. Having one of the largest payrolls in baseball and currently sitting under .500 is not acceptable. Heading into last night, the Yankees were in the midst of a 9-game losing streak. Many expected that feat to continue, however, Yankee captain, Aaron Judge, had other plans.
Judge has played just 71 games this season and the Yankees seemingly fell apart without Judge for the most of the season. Last night, Judge finally gave Yankee fans something to cheer about. His 3/4 day at the plate ended with 3 home runs, including a grand slam.
This is the first time in Judge's career that he recorded a three homer game. Unfortunately for Judge and the Yankees, his heroics are not enough to turn around the 2023 season. Currently sitting last in the AL East with a record of 61-65, the Yankees have turned to focusing on 2024.
