The New York Yankees have officially acquired LHP Caleb Ferguson from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for LHP Matt Gage and RHP Christian Zazueta, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com
Caleb Ferguson, 27, has spent his entire five-year career with the Dodgers. In his five years, he has pitched to a career 3.43 ERA across 207.1 innings. Ferguson has been primarily used as a reliever, but has had his fair share as a swingman spot starter.
Ferguson's 2023 seen him pitch to a 3.43 ERA across 60.1 innings. The Yankees are a great match for Ferguson as they just lost Wandy Peralta to free agency. Ferguson and now reunited teammate, Victor Gonzalez, will be two lefty options for manager Aaron Boone.
Heading back to Los Angeles are LHP Matt Gage and RHP Christian Zazueta. Gage, 30, has a 1.83 ERA across 16 big-league appearances (19.2 IP) over the last two seasons. In 249 minor-league games, the upstate New York native owns a 4.22 ERA. The Yankees claimed him off waivers from the Astros late January.
RHP Christian Zazueta, 19, holds a career 4.54 ERA across 73.1 innings. Zazueta was signed by the Yankees back in 2022 to a minor league deal and hasn't pitched past the DSL.
