Yesterday, the Yankees announced that in addition to calling up INF Oswald Peraza, they will also be calling up No. 3 overall prospect OF Everson Pereira. The Yankees are seemingly shifting towards 2024 with a late season youth movement.
Pereira has spent 46 games at AA Somerset and 35 games at AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. In those 81 games, Pereira is slashing .300/.373/.548 with 18 home runs and 64 RBI.
The Yankees have been lacking production almost all over the field, but none worse than left field. 22 year old Pereria will likely slide into LF and get regular at bats. Per Brendan Kuty of The Athletic, the Yankees plan is for both Pereira & Peraza to play essentially every day.
