The New York Yankees receive yet another blow to their already injury riddled season. This time comes in the form of veteran 1B Anthony Rizzo. In May, Anthony Rizzo collided with Padres superstar Fernando Tatis Jr. and had underwent testing. The Yankees announced, at the time, that all was well during the testing.

Three months later, Rizzo is heading to the IL for that exact moment. Before the collision, Rizzo was slashing .304/.376/.505 with 11 home runs. Since the collision, Rizzo has become one of the worst hitters in the game, slashing .174/.272/.227 with just one home run.

The Yankees first baseman is now set to hit the IL and will begin concussion protocol to ensure his recovery is positive. As for the Yankees, Rizzo's bat has not been productive as of late and will seemingly have no impact on the game itself. The plan is to use Jake Bauers and DJ LeMahieu in Rizzo's place.
