Behind the Lens: Appreciating Cooperstown During Hall of Fame Weekend

There are baseball destinations, and then there's Cooperstown.

This weekend, I had the privilege of returning to Cooperstown, New York, as credentialed media to photograph the National Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. It marked my fourth straight year covering one of baseball's most iconic weekends, and somehow, it never gets old.

Every year, I leave with something even more valuable, a deeper appreciation for the game of baseball and the community that surrounds it.

Cooperstown is unlike any other place in sports. For one weekend, the small village becomes the heartbeat of baseball. Fans from all over the country gather to celebrate the game's history, honor its newest Hall of Famers, and share a passion that spans generations.

Walking through the streets, you can feel it.

Every storefront embraces baseball. Every conversation revolves around the game. Everywhere you look, there's someone wearing their favorite team's jersey, sharing memories with family, or crossing an item off their baseball bucket list. It's a place where lifelong fans and first-time visitors experience the same sense of wonder.

As a photographer, I'm always searching for moments that tell a story. This weekend, those moments were everywhere.

Of course, the induction ceremony itself is unforgettable. Watching thousands of fans gather to celebrate the careers and legacies of baseball's newest Hall of Famers is something every fan should experience at least once. It's a reminder that greatness isn't just measured by statistics, it's measured by the impact these players have had on generations of fans and on the game itself.

But some of my favorite moments happened away from the stage.

Parents taking photos of their kids outside the Hall of Fame. Friends reconnecting over their shared love of baseball. Young fans playing catch while surrounded by the sport's rich history. Those are the moments that make Cooperstown feel so special.

This weekend also reminded me how fortunate I am. Four years ago, I never imagined I'd have the opportunity to return year after year as media, documenting one of baseball's greatest traditions. Every credential, every event, and every opportunity to tell these stories is something I never take for granted.
