O’s Youngster Turning Around 2024 Season?

The consensus No. 1 prospect in Major League Baseball has been INF Jackson Holliday of the Baltimore Orioles. Said to be a cornerstone of the long dreaded rebuild, the O’s were excited to call up the top prospect just a few short weeks ago. That however did not go as planned.


Holliday, just 20 years old, was viewed as being outmatched in the majors, slashing just .059/.111/.059 in 36 plate appearances across ten games. A horrific start that had many scratching their heads.


After being sent back to the minors, Holliday hit .252/.418/.429 during his next forty games, a respectable slash line overall but a long cry from what Holliday had done in the past.


His early-June performance was particularly concerning; in ten games, he batted just .212 with a 26.7% strikeout rate and a .394 slugging percentage. The organization labeled this behavior as "barking" shoulder, and he was placed on the minor league injured list.


Fortunately, the youthful phenom returned to action after just two weeks and has looked more like himself at the plate, slashing an amazing. In 101 trips to the bat since coming off the shelf, he has a .273/.426/.507 line.


Following his comeback, Holliday was limited to DH-only responsibilities, but in recent days, he has gradually started to mix in time on the infield dirt, appearing at shortstop or second base in six of his last nine games.


Holliday’s call up has been one that fans have been eager for. Since his call just four days ago, the youngster has shown promise and is hoping to do more of the same. Last night’s contest saw the 20 year old go 2-3 with an RBI and a walk. It is the hopes for a monster tear to come.
