Phillies Receive Much Needed Pitching Boost

The Phillies yesterday reinstated Ranger Suárez after having a left elbow strain. This is a huge piece that the Phillies get back.

Ranger Suárez was a big piece for the Phillies last year. Especially in the playoff run. One of his best moments was clutching up coming into the game into the top of the 9th to get the save in game 5 of the NLCS that sent the Phillies to the World Series.

Suárez really emerged last year as a starting pitcher. Not many people knew of Ranger Suárez. In 2022, Ranger Suárez pitched in 29 games, he had a 3.55 ERA, 155.1 IP, 129 SO, and a 1.333 WHIP.

Suárez got roughed up a little in his season debut. He pitched 4 innings, 7 hits allowed, 3 ER, 1 BB, 4 SO. Ranger is certainly not going to keep this up. The Phillies got a big piece back, and it’s going to be good for them for the rest of the year.
