The Kansas City Royals traded for Cole Ragans last year at the MLB trade deadline. In exchange they sent relief-pitcher Aroldis Chapman to the Texas Rangers. This was a trade many people thought would really be nothing big, although Cole Ragans is turning into a star for the Royals.
While with the Rangers, Cole Ragans could not get any luck. That being said, he really couldn't find himself as a pitcher in the MLB. Last year, for the Rangers, Cole Ragans pitched in 17 games, he posted a 2-3 record, and a 5.92 ERA.
Fast foward to Cole Ragans getting traded at the trade deadline to the Royals. Cole Ragans made 12 starts while on the Royals in 2023, he pitched to a 5-2 record with a 2.64 ERA. That's a big difference in stats.
Spring Training has been going on for a little while for all teams. Cole Ragans hasn't pitched much yet this Spring, but he's still pitched a good amount. In two games this Spring Training, Ragans has pitched five innings, while posting an incredible 0.00 ERA, 8 SO, and a 1.00 WHIP.
Cole Ragans is turning into an ace for the Kansas City Royals. Acquiring Cole Ragans from the Rangers last trade deadline was a fabulous decision by the Royals front office. Ragans is just 26-years-old. It's going to be fun to continue to watch Cole Ragans develop as a pitcher.
