The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted starting pitcher Paul Skenes in the 2023 MLB draft with the first overall pick. Ever since touching the mound for the Pirates in the minors, Skenes has impressed so many people within the Pirates organization, rightfully so. Paul Skenes 2024 season is off to a historic start, and he’s only getting started.
Last night, Paul Skenes made his fourth start of the season. Currently, Skenes is in Triple-A. Yesterday Paul Skenes threw 34 pitches of 100+ mph. Overall this year, Paul Skenes has thrown 104 of the 105 fastest pitches thrown by Triple-A starters this year. That is an insane stat for Paul Skenes, it really shows how fast he is throwing this year in the season.
It’s not all about Paul Skenes throwing high velocity. He also puts up great numbers on the mound. Skenes is really showing that this year.
Paul Skenes stats this year:
12.2 IP
5 H
0 ER
27 Ks
4 BB
0.71 WHIP
There’s no question that Paul Skenes is ready for the MLB. He’s proven it at every level that he’s pitched at. The question is when Paul Skenes will get the call by the Pirates to be in the MLB. It could most certainly be really soon, and it’s becoming more and more realistic that it is soon.
