One of the Phillies Best Producers is an Unexpected One

Last year, the Philadelphia Phillies made an underrated trade. They acquired CF Brandon Marsh in exchange number 3 ranked prospect on the Phillies, catcher Logan O’hoppe. As stated, Logan O’hoppe is a catcher and the Phillies have one of the best catchers in J.T. Realmuto.

The Phillies were in need for a CF. Platooning a bunch of different options, they needed a staple covering the center of the outfield. They seen a lot of potential in Brandon Marsh. At the time they traded for him, Brandon Marsh was just 24 years old. In 2022 with the Angels, Brandon Marsh slashed just .226/.284/.353 with 8 home runs and 37 RBIs. After the trade, he slashed .288/.319/.455 with 3 home runs and 15 RBIs.

Now, in 2023 Brandon Marsh has been one of the biggest producers on the Phillies roster and has picked up right where he left off. In 25 games, Brandon Marsh has slashed an impressive .346/.427/.679 with 4 home runs and 14 RBIs. He also leads the MLB in triples with 4 and ranks second in the National League in OPS with a 1.106 OPS. Additionally, Marsh's defense fairs extremely well with a combination of speed and great footwork in CF.

Not many fans outside of the City of Brotherly Love expect Brandon Marsh to keep this up, but the Philly faithful expect him to be a productive staple throughout the whole year.
