This off-season, the New York Mets agreed to a one-year deal with right-handed pitcher Luis Severino. It was kind of a low risk-high reward type of move. There wasn't many expectations for Severino coming into the season, but so far this Spring he's pitching really well.
Luis Severino is entering his ninth season in the MLB. The past few seasons, Severino has had a lot of ups and downs. Severino has spent his entire career with the New York Yankees. Last year, Severino posted a 6.65 ERA in 19 starts.
Fast forward to this Spring Training, Luis Severino is looking like a complete different pitcher. It's a small sample size, but it's a good sign for Severino. In 9 innings pitched, Severino has allowed just 5 hits, 1 ER, 0 BB's, 8 K's, and a 1.00 ERA.
I truly believe that Luis Severino could have a bounce back season for the New York Mets. The past few seasons Severino has been dealing with injuries. This year, Severino looks to be healthy and back to the pitcher we all know he can be.
It's also a great sight for the New York Mets. With the injury of Kodai Senga, they really don't have a clear idea of when he will be back. So, if Luis Severino can step up in place for their ace, that would be huge.
